arise
a new concept for a holistic sleep app

UX & UI design for a new sleep app
My brief for Arise was to research and design a new sleep app, targeted at students and young professionals.
I conducted full UX research, including interviews, empathy maps, user personas and competitor analysis, this allowed me to spot gaps in existing apps and ideate new features to focus on for this app. The app places focus on environmental factors that can influence sleep, to address the “why” users struggle with sleep, rather than just tracking an offering statistics.

Information Architecture

Following a phase of designing information architecture and user flows, I created a series of wireframes to demonstrate how the app would work.

Utilising existing branding, I translated the wireframe designs into a full working demo that was rigorously tested by my initial research panel. I wanted to create a design that was calm and relaxing to convey the concept of quality sleep, using soft twilight tones and gentle graphical elements. Focussing on the magic of the night sky and holistic ways to improve your sleep.
The feedback from this testing phase was very positive:
“balanced functionality with aesthetics in a way that enhances the user experience”
