The Party Pirate
children’s party e-commerce store redesign
a redesign to increase sales by 400%
The Party Pirate website was due for a much needed redesign – the current site was clunky and hard to navigate, but more importantly not mobile friendly.
My initial task was to study the brand and it’s target audience, to create a modern brand that embraced the magic of childhood parties and the boutique quality of the products on the site. I kept aspects of the original logo but combined these with more classic typography and a set of bright but gender neutral colours, that wouldn’t clash with the colourful product shots.

The UX research showed that over 70% of visitors to the site were using mobile devices, so it was essential that an upgrade made sure these users would find a site that was easy to use and offered a clear journey to purchasing. The site was rebuilt using Shopify which offered a much more powerful back end solution to managing the orders and products. The site design has been kept clean and simple to allow the products to stand out.

The information architecture was redesigned from the ground up to allow different paths to navigate the site depending on what the customer if looking for or the point of entry into the site.

- Following the relaunch, the sales grew by 400% in the next 6 months.
- The number of mobile users is closer to 80% now.
- The SEO has also improved which has contributed to greater traffic.
